Braun 5150cs for Shaving

In typical Braun fashion, the Braun Series 5 shavers continue to be an excellent budget-friendly shaver. In normal shaving mode, the 5150cs shaver has 18,500 cutting actions per minute. The shave is smooth, comfortable and very close. When I use the Braun Series 5, I am always impressed with how close the shave is.

The 5150cs does include AutoSense Technology so the shaver automatically adjusts power to match the thickness of your beard. You can use the shaver in the shower or with shave gel, but I prefer to use the shaver dry.

Turbo Mode

The Turbo Mode increases the cutting actions to 25,500 which decreases the shave time because more hairs are being cut with every pass. I did notice more tugging and discomfort with this mode, so I had to decrease the speed of my shaving movements. It did cut more with every pass though. If you are in a hurry, the turbo mode can help you get a quicker shave, but it takes some practice to get used to.

Braun 5150cs for Body Grooming

I did test the 5150cs with the body groomer for trimming my chest. It worked well. It was comfortable and did not have any irritation. Plus, it is wet/dry, so it can be used in the shower. It has body groomer comb attachments of both 1mm and 3mm.

Braun 5150cs for Beard Trimming

At the time of this article, I did not have a beard to test trimming. I rarely have a beard, so I might not be a good tester for this option. However, the shaver and body groomer work well, so I would expect the beard trimmer to perform well. It does include 1mm, 2mm, 3mm, 5mm, and 7mm attachments.

If you want a budget-friendly shaver that can handle shaving, beard trimming, and body grooming; then the Braun 5150cs would be a great choice.

What is in the Box?

The Braun 5150 Shaver

First, the box includes the Braun 5150cs shaver. It has the traditional Series 5 shape. In fact, the shape is identical to the previous version of the Series 5. No surprises here, but the design is good, so why change it?

The head of the Braun 5150cs has three cutting surfaces: 2 foil shavers and 1 middle trimmer. Each of these cutting surfaces has independent flexibility, but the entire head does not have any motion like the Braun Series 7 does.

Cord and Stand

Included in the box is:

• A charging stand – which is great for storing and displaying the shaver on your bathroom counter.
• A charging cord - with a 4 foot cord. Note: the shaver can be charged in the stand or the cord can be plugged directly into the bottom of the shaver.

Overall Thoughts for Braun 5150cs Shaver

I am a big fan of the Braun Series 5 shavers. The only notable change over the previous version of the Series 5 (5018) is the inclusion of a Turbo Mode which increases the cutting actions per minute to 25,500. I do not think the addition of the Turbo Mode is enough to force you to upgrade from your existing Series 5, but when it is time to upgrade, I would definitely go for a Series 5 with a Turbo Mode.
