Philips Norelco S9000 Prestige Review

The Philips Norelco S9000 Prestige is definitely an elite shaver. It gets the closest shave of any electric shaver I have used. I believe it even gets closer than a blade. Philips Norelco claims it cuts hair to 0.0mm. That closeness combined with the comfort, adjustable speed, and minimal irritation make this one of my top shaver choices.

The only negative I have experienced so far is the trimmer. The trimmer works fine, but I do wish the trimmer was built-in. However, it is easy to swap out.

The shaver has excellent performance as can be seen in the following sections.

Closeness

There is not much to say here. This shaver will give you the closest shave you can get: electric or not!

It uses the Ultra flex Suspension System to allow the shaver to contour to the face. It does exceptionally well around the jawbone and neck line, which is a tricky spot for many people. It is impressive how close the shaver gets.

Comfort

The head of the shaver is equiped with Hydro SkinGlide Coating for 50% smoother movement across the face as compared to the previous Philips Norelco shavers. The Hydro SkinGlide has 500,000 micro-beads per cm. All this info means that Philips Norelco put some serious thought into creating the surface on the head of the shaver. And it shows because the shaver is very comfortable to use.

Irritation

The S9000 Prestige leave me with as little irritation as any other shaver. I get a small amount of redness after shaving which goes away in a couple minutes. I do recommend adjusting the Smart Hair Sensor as this button controls the speed of the blades. I prefer the middle setting because it leaves me with the least redness.

It is also a wet/dry shaver so feel free to experiment with shaving in the shower or using shave gel. Try some thing and find what works for you.

Conclusion

Overall, as of 2024, the Philips Norelco S9000 Prestige is my favorite shaver. The shave is ridiculously close and comfortable.
