Philips Norelco 7300 Review

Philips Norelco 7300

The Philips Norelco 7300 shaver is the same shaver as the Philips Norelco 7200, except it includes a nose hair trimmer, more on that later. It is a nice mid-range shaver, but it left me with a bit more irritation than I expected.

Philips Norelco 7300 Thoughts

from Shaver Dude

It is a nice shaver, and I think most buyers will be happy with it. However, it sits in a strange place between the 3900 and the 9400, so some people may want to downgrade/upgrade.

First Impressions

Below is a video of my first impressions using the 7300. It did not provide any surprises. It was the closeness and quality I expect from Philips Norelco.

Philips Norelco 7300 Performance

The overall performance of the 7300 was pretty good.

Closeness

It gets a very close shave. I think the closeness is very similar to a blade.

It has 45 self-sharpening blades with 90,000 cutting actions per minute.

Comfort

The 7300 was comfortable while shaving. I did not feel any pulling hairs and it glided nicely over my face. The comfort is due to the Nano SkinGlide Coating which has 250,000 micro-beads per square centimeter for reduced friction.

It did a good job around the jawbone and chin areas. The only comfort issue was after the shave…see next section.

Irritation

The irritation was not terrible, but I felt a bit of burning for a few hours after the first shave. My second and third shaves got better, so maybe my face had to get used to a different shaver. I felt more irritation from the 7300 than when using either the Philips Norelco 3900 or the Philips Norelco 9400. However, the 3900 does not get as close of a shave and the 9400 costs more money. I guess there are some trade-offs.

Philips Norelco 7300 Nose Hair Trimmer

The nose hair trimmer did the job. It cut the hairs nicely and did not bother my nose. The regular shaver head just pops off the top of the handle and the nose hair trimmer can snap into place.

My only issue was the odd angle atop the shaver handle. I thought the angle made to difficult to trim my nose hairs. If you do not have a nose hair trimmer, this will work.

Built-in Trimmer

The Philips Norelco 7300 does include a built-in trimmer.

Conclusion

Overall, I think the 7300 gets a closer shave than the less expensive Philips Norelco 3900, but the 7300 will leave you with slightly more irritation. The Philips Norelco 9400 provides the same closeness of shave as the 7300, but it will leave you with less irritation because of the higher cutting actions per minute.

Given the similarity in price between the 7300 and the Philips Norelco 9400, I often recommend people wait for a discount and go with the 9400. However, the discounted 7300 is hard to beat. If you can snag the 7300 for under $100, it is a great buy. I have also compiled a list of my favorite shavers a different price ranges.
